Majors in the Department of Biological Sciences

B.S. Curriculum. The Department of Biological Sciences offers two majors - a B.S. with a major in Cell and Molecular Biology and a B.S. with a major in Environmental and Organismal Biology - with directed concentrations in each; both majors lead to a Bachelor of Science degree. A minor is not required. No more than four credit hours of research participation (BIOL 451  - BIOL 454 ) may be counted toward either major. Students who major in any of these concentrations are required to complete all of the general education requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree.

While there are several courses that each of the majors and concentrations share, differences in specific prerequisites and requirements do exist. Students should work closely with their academic advisers in order to prepare a course of study.
