Certificate in Instrumental Music Performance - 18 hours

The Certificate in Instrumental Music Performance is intended as structured additional study for the Bachelor of Arts in Music and Instrumental Education majors; students pursuing other majors will be considered by audition and interview. The certificate provides advanced performance skills in applied lessons, ensembles, and recitals, equipping students with a higher level of musicianship and musicality that will lead them to greater success in the global music industry. Students will study performance technique and pedagogy, instrumental literature, take part in ensembles, and give a full-length instrumental recital.

Guidelines

1)  The student must audition at the same level of a music performance major.
2)  The student must earn B grades or better in all applied lessons.

Lessons


Students must take 2 semesters of lower-division lessons (2 credits per semester), 2 semesters of upper-division lessons (2 credits per semester), and a 2-credit senior recital. All lessons and the recital must be on the same instrument.
