NURS 208 - Basic Principles of Pharmacology and Dosage Calculations

A course exploring pharmacokinetics and principles of medication administration. The course also provides the foundation for conversions and calculations needed to accurately figure fractional dosages, equivalencies, safe dosages and infusions as needed to safely implement medication administration for patients. Topics include the roles and responsibilities of the nurse in safe administration of medications within a legal/ethical framework.

Prerequisite(s): Acceptance to clinical nursing program; MATH 100  and MATH 110  or MATH 140  or higher level math course; or instructor’s approval.
