ARTE 401 - Art Content & Analysis Praxis Exam Preparation

This course provides a comprehensive review for students preparing to take the National Art Content and Analysis Praxis Exam in Art Education by focusing on three key knowledge areas: artmaking mediums, art history, and writing about art. The first segment provides review of diverse artistic media, and the second segment provides students with a comprehensive review of the history of art, beginning with prehistoric art, global art traditions and ending with contemporary art. Finally in the last segment, students will further explore theoretical frameworks and the role of art in society, assisting students continued development of skills of visual analysis, writing about art, and participating in art discourses as applied to the field of art education.
