This curriculum is designed to follow the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the American Chemical Society for a professional degree program in chemistry at the undergraduate level. The program is fully accredited by the American Chemical Society (1155 Sixteenth Street NW, Washington, DC 20036, telephone 202-872-4589). Specific course requirements are outlined below. Students fulfilling these requirements will also satisfy the university-wide general education requirements. No minor is required.

General Education (30-35 Hours)
Complete Two Courses From (6 Hours)
Complete two courses representing two areas chosen from
Complete Three Courses From (9 Hours)
Complete three courses representing at least two different areas chosen from
Complete One Course Chosen From (3 Hours)
Chemistry (45-47 Hours)
The CHEM 441 requirement is waived for students who complete CHEM 440 .
Three Additional Courses Selected From
ACS-Certified Degree Course Requirement
In order for the ACS-certified degree to indicate one of the following specializations, the corresponding listed courses are required. The listed chemistry and biochemistry courses may be used in meeting the above requirement for three additional courses.
Organic Chemistry:
two courses selected from Electives
Student must select sufficient additional elective courses for a minimum 120 hours for the degree. Minimum Total Hours: 120
A minimum of 120 hours, at least 42 of which must be at the 300 or 400 level, are required for the degree. A maximum of 50 hours of chemistry may be counted toward the minimum 120 hours required for the degree.
