Agricultural Business B.S.A.B. (1170) - Agricultural Business: Veterinary Technology and Management Concentration (1173)

This curriculum is designed to prepare students for careers in the rapidly expanding agricultural business sector. Students receive instruction in the agricultural sciences, agricultural economics, accounting, finance, policy, marketing, communications, and management. Students learn how the economic system operates as well as the role agriculture plays in the U.S. and global economy. The program emphasizes training related to the management phases of agricultural industry and business. Excellent career opportunities are available in industries allied with agriculture, including those engaged in transportation, distribution, marketing and processing of farm products; agricultural banking and farm credit agencies; farm real estate and land appraisal services; insurance; agricultural supply businesses and cooperative management; agricultural policy at state and federal levels; market analysis and international agricultural trade.

University Degree Requirements

120 credit hours are required
Minimum of 30 credit hours completed at The University of Tennessee at Martin
30 credit hours in Upper Division coursework (courses numbered 300-499)
Minimum 60 credits earned at an accredited four-year institution required
A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required
A minimum institutional GPA of 2.0 is required

If a student is admitted to the University of Tennessee at Martin with documented entrance deficiencies OR is subject to mandatory placement requirements, then the student must meet those requirements.

Agricultural Business: Veterinary Technology and Management Concentration (1173), B.S.A.B.

This curriculum is designed for students who have successfully completed an associate’s degree from an AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology program. The option will allow students to expand their knowledge in the areas of animal science and agribusiness management as it relates to the veterinary profession. Emphasis will be placed on management training of veterinary technologists. Students receive instruction in agricultural science, agricultural economics, accounting, finance, policy, and marketing. This will help students with career advancement in veterinary practice management, veterinary technology education, pharmaceutical sales, and laboratory medicine.

Note to students: Anyone enrolling in this degree concentration must have already completed an associate’s degree from an AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology program. Students who have not completed an associate’s degree from an AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology program but are interested in Agricultural Business with a focus on Veterinary Technology and Management are encouraged to enroll instead in the Applied Agricultural Management Concentration and work with their advisor to tailor their courses to support a veterinary technology and management focus.

Prior Associate’s Degree Requirement (60 credit hours)

Any student pursuing this degree concentration will already have an associate’s degree from an AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology program. Therefore, the General Education Requirements (38 hours) will already be satisfied, and the student will have obtained at least an additional 22 hours of college credit in satisfaction of that prior degree.
