Mission

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts educates and prepares students to be responsible citizens through an academically rigorous and creative environment that provides broad and diverse humanistic experiences.

We believe that by providing quality programs and degrees we offer opportunities for thought, inquiry, and expression that engage and unify the campus and the local and regional communities in a cultural life that fosters curiosity, responsible citizenship, and extended boundaries of knowledge.

Diversity Education

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts is committed to inclusiveness, diversity, multiculturalism and global awareness throughout its curricula, especially in the humanities and fine arts general education requirements. To that end, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts makes resources and training available to all its faculty to stay active and current in its commitment.

Organization

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts is composed of five departments: English and Modern Foreign Languages; History and Philosophy; Mass Media and Strategic Communication; Music; and Visual and Theatre Arts.

Degree Programs & Majors/Minors

The departments within the College of Humanities and Fine Arts offer the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Fine and Performing Arts (emphases in Visual Art, Art Education, Graphic Design, and Theatre); the Bachelor of Science in Mass Media and Strategic Communication; the Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Music (Performance and Music Education options); and the Bachelor of Arts in Music. They also provide majors/submajors and minors in support of the university’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees as indicated in the following table:
