ENGL 105 - English Composition

Introduction to the fundamentals of written discourse. Study of rhetoric, grammar, and style as means to effective prose, with an emphasis on the writing process. Writing Center visits embedded in assignments. Readings and concomitant writing assignments. Predominantly a skills course. Students must complete ENGL 105 and ENGL 112 or ENGL 113 in sequence. In order to proceed to ENGL 112 or ENGL 113, students must complete ENGL 105 with a grade of C or higher. 
  Students may also elect to take ENGL 105 in place of ENGL 111  to receive extra support during the writing process. Students must complete ENGL 105 and ENGL 112  or ENGL 113  in sequence. In order to proceed to ENGL 112 , students must complete ENGL 105 with a grade of C or higher.

Prerequisite(s): ACT English sub-score of 17 or lower, or departmental permission. Concurrent enrollment with ENGL 112 or ENGL 113 is not allowed. Students who have previously passed ENGL 105 or ENGL 111 with a grade of C or higher or a P grade on equivalent transfer credit may not enroll.
