ENGL 111 - English Composition

Introduction to the fundamentals of written discourse. Study of rhetoric, grammar and style as means to effective prose. Readings and concomitant writing assignments. Predominantly a skills course. Students must complete ENGL 111 and ENGL 112 or ENGL 113 in sequence. In order to proceed to ENGL 112 or ENGL 113, students must complete ENGL 111 with a grade of C or higher.

Prerequisite(s): ACT English sub-score of 18 or higher, or departmental permission. Concurrent enrollment with ENGL 112 or ENGL 113 is not allowed. Students who have previously passed ENGL 105 or ENGL 111 with a grade of C or higher or a P grade on equivalent transfer credit may not enroll.
