Secondary Area Instrumental Music Studies Certificate (13 Hour)

The Certificate in Secondary Area Instrumental Music Studies is intended as structured additional study for music majors seeking development of a skill set outside of their primary area. The certificate program provides rudimentary and advanced preparation in additional instrumental training with the intention of preparing students for teaching or performance outside of their primary area of study. Students will study instrument pedagogy, take private lessons, experience instrumental ensemble performing, gain awareness of appropriate instrumental literature selection, and develop an understanding of related rehearsal techniques specific to the instrumental music genre.
