Criminal Justice, M.S.C.J. (58A0)

The Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) is available for students holding a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field from an accredited college or university. Students may elect to participate in the 30-hour online master’s degree program, one or more graduate certificate programs, or any combination thereof.  Credit earned through graduate certificate programs also apply toward MSCJ degree requirements for students later pursuing the full degree.  Available Graduate Certificates include:

  • Law Enforcement Administration
  • Corrections Administration
  • Leadership

Graduation Requirements

Successful completion of a final comprehensive examination in the last semester, consisting of a portfolio reflecting all work completed for the degree. The student must earn a passing score of B, and a rubric for each section of the portfolio will be used.

Students who successfully complete 30 credit hours, which includes the 12 hours of four core courses and an additional 18 hours in criminal justice elective credit, present a passing portfolio, and have maintained a GPA of 3.0 will be eligible for graduation from the MSCJ program. Students who enroll in the certificate programs only, without completing the requirements for the MSCJ, will receive their certificates after they have completed the required certificate coursework with an overall GPA of 3.0.
