Legal Studies Minor (4176)

The minor in legal studies (M-4176) is designed to give university students an understanding of (1) the structure and processes of the American legal system and (2) how these processes affect society as a whole. As part of an overall degree program, the minor provides strong preparation for law school or a career as a legal assistant. The minor consists of 18 hours.

Minor Requirements


*Students planning to pursue professional paralegal licensure may take the following courses: POSC 210 , POSC 220 , POSC 390 , POSC 391 , POSC 392 , POSC 393 , and POSC 451 .

**Criminal Justice courses may not be used to complete both the Criminal Justice major and the Legal Studies minor.

Students should take two of the following courses outside their major:

with no more than six (6) hours coming from a single discipline* (students are responsible for satisfying any necessary prerequisites)
