An overview of careers in lab and data science and how professionals in these careers interact with the health care delivery system. Topics include the history and evolution of health care, the roles and relationship of the various health care personnel, exploring various laboratory science career options, and exploring various health informatics career options. Trends in the health care industry are discussed including current and emerging trends in the delivery system, the financing of health care, social determinants of health, inter-professional collaboration, ethics, and team science.
