COUN 747 - Introduction to Addictions Counseling

This course is designed to familiarize students with the history, philosophy, and trends in addictions counseling as well as relevant legal and ethical issues. The roles, functions, and settings for addictions counseling are covered as well as the credentialing process and professional organizations relevant to addictions counselors. Models and theories of addiction are introduced.

Prerequisite(s): admission to the graduate counseling program or consent of instructor.
